Chapter 1.4 - It's in his kiss...

It's in his kiss...

Mackenzie walked out of her room, unwilling to put that little black dress on again until the last moment possible.  It had definitely seen better days!

A pile on the table caught her attention.  "What is that?" she wondered, stepping closer.  "Clothes?"

She snatched the note laying beside the clothes and quickly read it.  It was from Breandan!  "Some extra clothes," he'd written.
Giddily she clapped her hands and lifted up the dress, slipping it over her head.  It was such a smooth, silky fabric. Nothing like she'd ever felt back home.  He'd also provided soft, leather boots for her!  She blinked away tears.

Anxiously, she waited for him after work, trying to work out what to say to him.  She wasn't sure there was any way to adequately thank him.
Mason eyed Mackenzie as he left work.  "We are friends now, are we not?" he asked.

"Of course we are," she assured him.

"Perhaps it's none of my business," he began cautiously.  "But Captain O'Shea is not a man of affection.  I fear that your attraction may only be one-sided."

Mackenzie frowned at him, surprised to hear him speak so candidly.  It's just his jealousy talking, she tried to assure herself.  Breandan made it his habit to walk her home, he called to check on her, thought of her needs like food and clothing.  If that wasn't a sign of affection, she didn't know what was!  She turned her back on him. "Like you said, it's none of your business," she said dismissively.

Mason sighed heavily as he walked away.  Mackenzie was so full of life and spark while Captain O'Shea was so staid and dull.  They seemed to be at opposite extremes.  He truly worried that the Captain would break her heart, although unintentionally.
Mackenzie watched Mason walk away, more than a little annoyed.  She couldn't believe the nerve of him! She crossed her arms and tapped her foot with agitation.

But maybe Mason was right.  In all the time she'd known him, Breandan hadn't once made any advances.  He didn't seem to be jealous when Mason fawned over her.  Maybe he just viewed her as a charity case.

She scowled. She wasn't ever going to be a charity case again, she thought angrily.  If that was what...

"Mackenzie! You look beautiful in that dress," Breandan said when he regained the ability to speak.

Mackenzie turned her head and met his gaze, her mental tirade forgotten.
Quickly she walked over to him, grabbing his hands.  "I wanted to thank you for the clothes," she told him.  "They're so beautiful!"

Breandan glanced down at the hands she still held.  "You're welcome. I'm glad you could use them."

"Can we talk?" she said, her heart beating against her chest.

Breandan glanced around. "Is that not what we're doing right now?"

She let out an exasperated breath.  "Somewhere private? I wanted to talk to you.  Maybe you could come over to my house?"

"Oh! Of course," Breandan agreed.

They stepped into her house and then stopped, staring at each other.  Breandan was not sure what was wrong.  Perhaps he'd made her angry by giving her some of his mother's old clothes. "You wanted to discuss something?" he prompted her when she remained stubbornly quiet.
"I did," she said, swallowing nervously. "I'm just not sure how to say what I want to say."

Breandan raised an eyebrow.  Mackenzie was never without words. In fact, she typically said whatever she felt without any hesitation whatsoever.

"Well, maybe it would be best if you..." Breandan began to suggest.

"I can't stop thinking about you!" Mackenzie admitted in a rush.  "I keep thinking about what it would be like to flirt with you, hold your hands and kiss you..." she trailed off, looking at his lips.
"Oh hell," she muttered when she saw that she'd stunned him.  Stepping forward, she closed the space between them, grabbed his shoulders and kissed him passionately.  She squeezed her eyes shut and prayed that he wanted this new romance as much as she did!

Her prayers were answered when he reached around her to pull her more firmly against him, kissing her every bit as wildly as she was kissing him.
She felt like hours passed with them standing like that - kissing, flirting, gazing into each other's eyes.

She loosely wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head against his shoulder, so pleased with how her night had turned out.  Her eyes started drifting shut as she cuddled against him.

"Come on, let's go lay down," Breandan suggested, kissing her forehead.
Mackenzie followed him into her room.  "I always did like a man in uniform," she drawled, admiring the view of him in her bed.

But she was so tired!

She attempted to stifle a yawn and rubbed her hand over her eyes.

Breandan scooted over on the bed and patted the bed. "Come lay down.  We'll cuddle," he told her.
Mackenzie laid down next to him and pressed against him. "But I want more than cuddling," she whispered petulantly.  But she was too tired.  "Don't go," she told him, wrapping her arms around him.

Breandan wrapped his arm around her and tucked her against his side.  "I'll stay until you're asleep." he promised.

Minutes later, she was sound asleep.

Breandan smiled as he smoothed her hair away from her face.  She was so beautiful.  And she wanted him!
Early in the morning hours, Breandan reluctantly slipped from her bed.  He had watched her sleep all night, marveling at how beautiful and perfect she was.

Wants Completed- Invite Breandan Over, Have 1st Romance (flirt, hold hands & first kiss)

Wants Pending - Get married, Jog, Gain Logic Skill

*AN - May I just say "YAY!"  I was so excited that she rolled the want for having her first romance right after she invited him over!  She threw herself at him and they spent the rest of the night fawning over each other!  I kept hoping she'd roll a wish to woo hoo, but no such luck! She conked out at 9:30 pm and he laid in bed next to her until 3:30 am.  Aw, he's so romantical!  (Apparently the bed is more comfortable than the two dining chairs, so that's why he keeps going in there to relax - not because he's trying to compromise her! LOL!)

  1. EEe! I am so happy about this development! I really like Breandan.

    1. Me too! I was worried Breandan was going to play hard to get!

  2. Aww, that was really sweet! Breandan seems like a good guy.
